武则天立“无字碑”是迫于当时无条件对自己作盖棺论定评价，其功过是非只能留待后人评说；从唐中宗起至唐亡，十五代唐皇皆为武则天嫡传子孙，限于孝道伦理，亦无法对武氏作如实评价，只能让陵碑空白。
Abstract:
The reason for the first Chinese Empress's gravestone to be wordless is, of course, out of unfavorable conditions of history. From Emperor Li Xian to the collapse of the Tang Dynasty, there were fifteen emperors who were all descendants of the first Chinese Empress.However, out of filial duty and moral principles, objective comments were impossible to be made.
